A business unit of the Licensing Financials Division, the Equity-IP Royalty Fund,
creates Funds with which it develops royalty payment through the funding of
adopter-specific technologies which are technologies for which adopter has
already entered a conditional Technology Licence Agreement. Effectively, the
business unit creates and uses special Funds to accumulate funds to finance
technology Development.
However the use of Fund to develop the royalty is also based on the
preference of the Fund investors to be not equityholders of the licensee
adopter.
Operationally, the Fund is granted exclusive Licensing Right by the
Developer while the IP ownership remains with the Developer entity. The Fund
then licenses the technology to the licensee-adopter which pays royalty to
the Fund under the royalty servicing agreement of the firm, and the firm
in turn distributes the royalty between the Fund and the Developer.
Consequent on this mechanism, the business unit also enables companies
seeking to operate with a specific technology but of limited funds, also be
availed with the technology for an irrevocable signed Technology License
Agreement.
